Front Page › Forums › BioMap › How to increase “import data size”
Hi,
Does anyone know how to increase the size that is importable for biomap? Is it limited by the RAM of your PC or any settings that I can change to increase it? Thanks.
Jian
Hi!
You need more or less the double amount of RAM compared to the file size you want to load in BioMap.
Cheers,
Dieter
Hi,
That’s interesting. My new PC has a RAM of 8G and I cannot import data size of 300M.
Jian
Hmm, than the file size is not causing the problems. 300MB should be easy to load.
That’s why I am trying to figure out any settings that I can set to increase the size. e.g. the setting of IDL.
By the way, I am using windows 8.1 64bit system. IDL is installed in both 64bit and 32bit.
Then it would be good if you could provide the error message text or a screenshot of the error message.
Sorry for the confusion. There is no error message. I was able to import the data when I change the bin size to reduce the data to 100MB.
I attached an image of my data size.
Ah okay. This is a known limitation to 2^15 = 32768 data points which can already be found here in the forum.
The file size itself is not limited. By reducing the data points the loaded file size is a side effect. B)
I see. Is the number of points the data points at my mass range?
If this is true, then biomap is not easy to open high spectra resolution MSI data?
Hi khjbxgx, did you ever solve this? I’m having exactly the same problem. Tiny dataset, large binsize needed to import it. By the time I get the dataset to open the information’s worthless.
Cheers.
No, I haven’t. There is a limitation on data points.
