Front Page › Forums › Misc › MALDI MS Imaging term
All the different imaging technologies have abbreviations witch are commonly used in literature. Here a few examples:
[ul]
MRI Magnetic Resonance Imaging
PET Positron Emission Tomography
WBA Whole-Body Autoradiography
CT Computed Tomography
SPECT Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography
[/ul]
In our field, we have not yet decided on what term we should use to refer to our technology. Multiple terms are used in literature for MALDI MS Imaging and depending on the reviewers you are even asked to change the term to their favorite.
The idea is to let the scientific community decide. For this reason, we make this poll where we let you choose on what we should use. Should your favorite term not be on the options list, post it to this thread and we’ll add it. You may also use this thread for discussion on this topic.
It’s then up to us to consistently use the favorite term…
And how about MALDI Imaging Mass Spectrometry (MALDI IMS)?
Woops, I missed the M-IMS… that’s almost the same…
How about i-MALDI-MS?
i MALDI MS. Should it not be imaging MALDI Mass spectrometry since it is really imaging with the technique of MALDI-MS
Is IMS not Ion Mobility Spectrometry?
I also would go for Imaging MALDI-MS i.e. I-MALDI-MS.
I am carrying this across from SIMS where the techniques are :
Static SIMS
Dynamic SIMS and
Imaging SIMS
OK, added two new options based on your comments…
