Can someone explain the exact difference between the “mean” and “integral” settings in the analysis > plot > point > config window. These are the 2 different setting for the middle mouse button.
my assumption is that “mean” gives me the average intensity at each pixel for a chosen m/z range
and that “integral” gives me the area under the curve at each pixel for a chosen m/z range
along these lines if I draw an ROI and get the stats on an image that has not been filtered using either of the above functions i assume I am looking at just the intensity values at each pixel for the exact m/z that i am viewing?
Thanks

Hi Marc
This option is not relvant for MSI data, as you are always presented with a window where you can select the peak option.
ROI stats is done on the the extracted ion image. So depending on what you selected as evaluation criteria (m/z range, mean, max…) you end up with different result.
